The first mention of the existence of the church is found in a document from 1281, which would make it one of the oldest in the area.
Its construction in its present form took place between 1470 and 1487, and the bell tower, built between 1871 and 1877, was destroyed during the Second World War.
Damaged by the 1976 earthquake, it was restored with the voluntary contribution of the locals in 1981.
